Seniors Hearing Aid Rebate Program
Department of Social Development and Seniors
A rebate toward hearing aids for Island seniors. Verbatim: "The program covers cost-effective hearing aids that meet the applicant's basic hearing needs, to a maximum payable rebate of $6,000 per individual. Hearing aids are payable once every 5 years."
The catch: The five-year clock is the catch, and it runs per individual rather than per device - a replacement inside five years is not covered at any amount. "Cost-effective hearing aids that meet the applicant's basic hearing needs" is also doing real work: the rebate is written against basic need, not against the device that was actually recommended. This row was found inside the At Home Caregiver Benefit handbook rather than on any page of its own, so its own terms page has never been read.
