Newfoundland and Labrador Disability Benefit

Canada Revenue Agency

A provincial monthly payment for low-income working-age adults approved for the federal Disability Tax Credit. Verbatim from CRA: "an amount of up to $400 per month to those who qualify ($4,800 annually)" for "persons with disabilities between the ages of 18-64 who qualify for the Disability tax credit."

The catch: The Disability Tax Credit is the whole gate, and it is a medical-certification process that takes months - the provincial benefit has no separate application and cannot be hurried. Income-tested against an adjusted family net income of $42,404 for an individual who qualifies for the DTC. Because it rides on the DTC and on a filed return, somebody who is eligible and has done neither is not missing this month's payment, they are missing all of them.

Do these first

Get approved for the Disability Tax Credit required Payable only to people approved for the federal Disability Tax Credit. The provincial benefit has no application, so the DTC is the entire path to it.
