Newfoundland and Labrador Income Supplement
Canada Revenue Agency
A tax-free quarterly amount for low-income individuals, families, seniors and people with disabilities. Verbatim from CRA: "$520 if you are a single individual", "$589 if you have a spouse or common-law partner", "$231 per child under 19 years of age", and a further "$231 if you are eligible for the DTC."
The catch: The DTC top-up is claimable for the filer and separately for a spouse, which is the part most readers miss - two DTC-approved adults in one household draw two $231 amounts. Everything here is automatic after filing and invisible before it.
