Ontario Sales Tax Credit

Canada Revenue Agency

A tax-free amount paid monthly as part of the Ontario Trillium Benefit to offset sales tax. Verbatim from CRA, for payments based on the 2025 return covering July 2026 to June 2027: "a maximum annual credit of $378 for each adult and each child in a family."

The catch: The Trillium Benefit it is paid inside bundles three separate credits, so the deposit will not match this figure and a reader checking one number against their bank statement will conclude something is wrong. Reduction starts at an adjusted net income of $29,047 for a single person with no children. There is a choice buried in the return: an annual entitlement over $500 can be taken as a single payment in June 2027 instead of monthly, and that election is made a year in advance on the prior return.

Who can get it

  • If you are a single individual with no children, the credit will be reduced by 4% of your adjusted net income over $29,047. automatic
