The catch: Which of the three payment levels you land on is decided by other income against the Alaska Federal Poverty Guidelines, and those guidelines change every year - so the band you qualified for last year is not the band you qualify for this year, and the change happens without anyone asking you. It is a payment for seniors already in Alaska: residency and age are hard gates.
