The City of Calgary

Free compost, up to 100 L per household, once per household, collected by appointment at City landfills. Runs in spring; registration opens a couple of weeks before pickup starts.

The catch: Appointment slots are finite and the pickup window is short. Registration opening is the date that matters - by the close date it has been gone for weeks.
