A federal register separate from Alberta's: dormant Canadian bank balances, certain Canada Savings Bonds and Government of Canada bonds, and unclaimed Bank of Canada cheques. Searching is free.

The catch: Searching Alberta's register does not search this one and vice versa - both have to be done. Search former legal names and, where you are authorized, the names of deceased relatives.

What to bring

  • Former and current legal names
    Search every name the money could have been held under.
  • Old account or instrument number
    Where known. Not required to search.
