PrairiesCan Regional Tariff Response Initiative - mostly repayable

Federal response to tariff and trade disruption, delivered on the Prairies by PrairiesCan. Projects typically range from $500,000 to $5 million, and part of the money genuinely is non-repayable.
The catch: Read the repayment line before treating the headline as free money. Up to $1 million can be non-repayable for an eligible business, "otherwise funding to for-profit businesses is normally repayable", repaid with no interest over 5 years in monthly installments starting 1 year after the project end date, and normally covering up to 50 per cent of eligible costs. Not-for-profits are normally non-repayable up to 90 per cent, but their revenue-generating projects flip to repayable - so the line runs through project type as well as applicant type.
